Seven Oaks Golf Club, named after the ancestral home of the Colgate family, is located on the campus of Colgate University in Hamilton, New York. The club's inception can be traced back to 1934 when architect Robert Trent Jones was commissioned to design the course as part of his early career endeavors. However, the Great Depression and World War II delayed its completion for several years.

Jones returned multiple times over the years to revise his designs, culminating in a final version approved in 1956. The first nine holes officially opened on July 4th, 1958, followed by the completion of the final holes on September 4th, 1965.

Seven Oaks exemplifies Jones' signature style, characterized by strategic water placements, extensive tee areas, and large greens that offer both challenge and playability.
